Context:
There are six major schools of Magic:

A Mage is only able to learn spells in their range of magic.

A Red Mage is able to learn Red, Green and Violet Spells.
A Green Mage is able to learn Green, White and Red Spells.
A Blue Mage is able to learn Blue, Violet and Green Spells.
A Violet Mage is able to learn Violet, Blue and Red Spells.
A Black Mage is able to learn Black, Violet and  Blue Spells.

Magic is practiced by two types of people:
Witches/Witchers: Humans who have the ability to use magic but have to learn the skills
Mages: Another type of human who are born with the ability to use magic


Bio:
Eka grew up as a happy child, as her parents didn't want to involve her into the politics of the Magician-world. But she still wondered why her dad was often gone for weeks or even months. Her mother tried her best to care for little Eka but felt overwhelmed by the social pressure she felt as a witch in a pureblood Black-Mage family. Theresa got help by another Black-Mage called Reuben Crauss, who later became Eka's home teacher for Black Magic.

Eka also met a boy called Lazlo through Reuben. When he was "babysitting" her he would bring Lazlo over as a playmate. Lazlo is a vampire from another royal family but he never cared about his status and quickly became friends with Eka, who was really shy in comparison to him. Eka found out that Lazlo was a vampire by complete accident. They were playing at the playground and Eka fell down the swing and scratched her arm really bad. Lazlo, out of the want to help, tried cleaning and closing the wound by licking it. But the young vampire lost his self-control (he was a kid after all) and bit Eka. Nothing really bad happened but Eka was so shocked, she didn't want to see Lazlo again.

When Eka was 10 she snuck into the basement, after she saw her father and other people going there. And she was horrified to see what her father did with his ability to use Black magic. She herself was very skilled for her age but Reuben always warned her to not use too much of it because it was very dangerous and she never knew what a very skilled mage was able to do with it. She never knew what her father and the others tried to do but it backfired really bad and it ended with all of the six participants, her father included, disappearing and Eka being severely hurt. Nobody knew what really happened to Eka during the ceremony her father was doing, but the effects became clear after Eka was feeling better and her injuries here healed.

Eka noticed that her mother was griefing over the death of her husband and so Eka tried to not tell her mother about her own problems and worries. Part of this was that she started hearing and seeing ghosts and after a while they started talking to and harrassing her. She kept this a secret until she was 12 years old. Then, on an unfortunate day, Eka accidently entered the Shadowlands, the realm of ghosts and the undead. Eka, who didn't know what happened, was scared for her life and cried for help which drew the attention of the ghosts and demons in the Shadowrealm to her. She was rescued by Reuben after she became unconcious in the Shadowrealm and the first thing she witnessed after she awakened was her mother arguing with Reuben. Her mother blamed Reuben for teaching her Black Magic but Reuben tried to convince her that it had no correlation to that.

After this incident Eka's mother isolated herself even more and Eka had no chance to talk to her anymore. After Eka came back from school, she noticed that her mother was gone. Through Reuben, she found out that her mother had killed herself by poisoning. After all this trauma, Eka fully isolated herself emotionally and stopped talking for two years. Reuben adopted her in the meantime and considered sending her to the "Romamarum School of Magic", a highly prestigious boarding school, where he now worked at and which was planning on teaching Black Magic in the future. Eka slowly socialised with other people again and it turned out that the "Romamarum" had accepted her in and granted her a scholarship. The story begins after this point.
